Privacy Policy

This privacy policy is applicable to the Jobpadi web application, together with any related services (Telegram bot delivery, email notifications) operated by Nwinyinya David (collectively, the “Application”). Nwinyinya David is hereinafter referred to as the “Service Provider”.

What information does the Application obtain and how is it used?

To use Jobpadi, you must register an account. At registration, we collect your email address, password (stored as a secure hash, never in plain text), full name, and country. To deliver job alerts, we collect your Telegram Chat ID and Telegram username once you connect your account. We also store which job categories you subscribe to, your subscription plan, and usage statistics such as jobs delivered and jobs clicked, so we can operate and improve the service.

Cookies and Tracking Technologies

The Application uses only essential session cookies required for authentication and account security. These cookies do not track your activity across other websites. We do not use cookies, web beacons, or similar technologies for analytics, advertising, or marketing purposes.

Legal basis for processing your personal data

The Service Provider processes personal data on the following bases:

  • Contract performance: processing necessary to provide the Application’s core service to you.
  • Consent: where you have given explicit consent, such as connecting your Telegram account. You may withdraw consent at any time by disconnecting Telegram or deleting your account.
  • Legitimate interests: maintaining account security, preventing abuse and fraud, and improving job-matching quality.
  • Legal obligation: to comply with applicable law or lawful government requests.

Does the Application use Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies?

Yes. Jobpadi uses AI language models (via a third-party AI provider) as part of its internal job-collection pipeline, to classify and filter publicly posted job listings gathered from external sources before they are delivered to users. This AI processing is applied to job-listing content, not to your personal profile data, and is not used to profile users or make automated decisions about you individually.

Do third parties see and/or have access to information obtained by the Application?

We share information with the following third-party service providers, only as necessary for them to perform their function on our behalf:

  • Paystack (payment processor) — receives your email and transaction/subscription data to process payments. Paystack does not receive your Jobpadi password.
  • Telegram (messaging platform) — receives your Telegram Chat ID and username to deliver job alerts.
  • Resend (email delivery provider) — receives your email address and name to send transactional emails.
  • Upstash Redis (infrastructure provider) — processes your IP address transiently for rate-limiting; this is not stored long-term.

We do not sell your personal information to anyone, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

Cross-Border Data Transfers

Your personal data may be processed on servers located outside Nigeria, including through the Service Provider’s use of third-party services such as Supabase (database hosting), Resend (email delivery), Telegram (messaging), and Paystack (payment processing). The Service Provider ensures that appropriate safeguards, including standard contractual clauses or equivalent transfer mechanisms recognised under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, are in place to protect your personal data when transferred across borders.

Data Retention

The Service Provider retains personal data as follows:

  • Account data (email, name, preferences): retained for as long as your account remains active.
  • Transaction/payment records: retained as required for accounting, tax, and fraud-prevention purposes, even after account deletion, in line with applicable law.
  • IP addresses used for rate-limiting: not retained persistently.

Data Deletion

You can request deletion of your personal data or account by contacting the Service Provider at support@jobpadi.com. Upon verification of your identity (via your registered email), the Service Provider will delete your personal data from its systems within 30 calendar days of verified request, except where retention is required for legal or accounting purposes.

Security

Passwords are stored using industry-standard hashing (bcrypt) and are never stored or visible in plain text. Account sessions are secured using signed authentication tokens delivered via secure, HTTP-only cookies. Payment webhook events are cryptographically verified to prevent tampering. While we take reasonable measures to protect your data, no method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Data Breach Notification

In the event of a personal data breach that is likely to result in a risk to the rights and freedoms of data subjects, the Service Provider will notify the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach, as required by the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023. Affected data subjects will also be notified without undue delay.

Your Rights

Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, you have the following rights:

  • Right of access — to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Right to rectification — to request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Right to erasure — to request deletion of your personal data, subject to legal retention requirements
  • Right to restrict processing — to request that we limit how we use your data
  • Right to data portability — to receive your data in a structured, commonly used format
  • Right to object — to object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Right to withdraw consent — to withdraw any consent you have given, without affecting the lawfulness of processing before withdrawal

Changes to This Policy

The Service Provider may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted here with a new effective date.
